Aotearoa Daily Kōrero 21/7/2023 - eviltoast

Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

Haha oh boy can I relate. Except for me it’s normally the door of the BBQ banging in the wind. And luckily our kids don’t wake up in the night all too often, but one will wake up in the early hours of the morning a couple of days a week.

Not sure how reassuring it is saying it gets better, but not that much better.

We have a primary school aged kid as well, so we’ve been through it before awhile ago. But I guess we forgot how tiring babies were haha. or maybe we’re just getting older :(

Yeah I’m not sure there will ever be a time again that I’m not tired.

It does get better… But different. I used to sleep until 9am or sometimes 11am. Now I wake up at 7am sometimes 8am. Our kids are now 7 and 10 and hardly wake up in the night, and in the morning they will play / read on their own without waking us up.

Yes the older ones do that, so I guess having a 3 year old still makes it hard. But now we have one that wakes up early and two that don’t want to get up but need to for school.

I once read a nice saying: “not for a million dollar I want another kid, but not for a million dollar they can take away my kids.” I love them, but sometimes I really don’t want to be a dad anymore :)

Yeah I can relate to that. We recently had all the kids go to visit their grandmother for a night. It was the first time since the first one was born that we had a kid free night. I think we slept for 12 hours straight.
