The nordics have had nothing but rain this summer. Something to do with an unstable polar vortex. Sucks the life out of a man.

Not in Beskid fortunately!
There are actually brown bears in southern Poland too, mostly in the Tatra mountains, but they’re pretty rare in the Beskids where Skrzyczne is - they tend to avoid humans and are way more common on the slovakian side like you guessed!
