Silent Tactile Early Bump - eviltoast

Hi everyone. I currently use Zeal Zilent V2 67g switches and really enjoy them. I like how quiet they are and like that the bump/resistance is immediate.

I’m looking to try other switches still that are similar but don’t know enough. Does anyone know of other switches that fit my criteria? How are the keychron Banana’s? Are there any low profile switches like this? I absolutely do not like MX Brown’s as well.

Love my U4s. I haven’t really used any other tactiles to compare with. My last switches were box jades which are on the opposite end of the “loudness” spectrum (and probably others). Was struck by how much less wobbly they were, too.

I got the 62g cause I like a lighter switch. I would say the bump is pretty close to the top, but again I have not really used other tactiles so I don’t have the frame of reference.

With my Zilents when I rest my finger on a key it just baarreelllyy depresses until it sits on the bump and then once I press down basically all of the travel (99%) comes after the bump.

Would you say the U4s are like that?

Also, with how light yours are do they still have a discernible bump or does it seem to turn into a linear?

Yeah, basically at the top. And there’s definitely a bump, they are not linear. You should try to find a force curve for both switches. That should help at least tell you (better than I can lol) where the bump is, relative to the other.

That’s great to hear. I couldn’t remember the term to try and search so thanks for that “force curve.” I’ll definitely be trying out these switches

I just got the switches but haven’t installed them on my keyboard. My board is a 2pin so I’d have to cut off the supports but don’t want to do that because I don’t want to induce wobble. I’ve been wanting to switch boards for awhile so this is a good excuse to. In the mean time I held both switches in either hand and tried them side by side. The Boba’s are nicer! The Zilent’s were so much better than the MX Browns I thought it couldn’t get better but here we are. The Zilents dip just a tiny bit at the top before they rest on their tactile bump. The Boba’s simply rest on the bump at the top, no wobble, it’s amazing! The tactile bump feels very similar to one another. A solid bump. I wouldn’t say the Boba feels like it’s weak like some people say. Next it pressed the switches quickly and I could hear a slight ping coming from the Zilent but not the Boba. They are both incredibly quiet, I don’t really think one is noticeably quieter than the other. I have the Zilent V2 67g and the U4 RGB V2 65g (which I understand doesn’t use Boba plastic anymore). The weight feels nearly identical to each other as it should.
