Because only when they convince you that you need to fight for your right to keep burning fossil fuels and everything else will lead to a catastrophe can they continue to maximise the revenues from their technological dead end as long as possible.
PS: Also Axel Springer SE is now (since 2019) majority-owned by KKR, one of the big players in financials still heavily investing into fossil fuels… but that is surely just another coincidence.
