Pro tip: if your partner shows interest in something and tries to share it with you, viciously mock them and make them feel terrible

But don’t you know? Straight relationships are all about playing psychological games on each other to trick your partner into tolerating you even though you hate each other. This is healthy and normal.

Why straight relationships? I’d assume this happens in every relationship to some degree or another.

It can but I don’t know of any comic strips in newspapers where the common theme is “I hate my same sex partner” or TV shows that run for years and get syndication with the same theme.

Happy couples are boring to watch, and LGBT in media at all is deemed scary and contentious.

What exactly is the takeaway with that reasoning. That it’s acceptable to extrapolate as long as it’s a popular depiction in media? For anyone that isn’t a well-muscled, unusually pretty, straight, white, 30yr old high school student about whom a prophecy has been written, I don’t think that’s going to go well.

I was referring to the media portion because of how consistent it is and there are much better ways of making a relationship interesting, it’s lazy at best. The point was how much it bleeds into real life. It’s not hard to surround myself with friends who don’t think/talk that way but in my previous job it was almost all married men I worked with and almost all of them were constantly complaining about their wives.

Cause if both partners are the same gender, the basis for conflict can’t be gender differences.

The sort of woman that would do this and the sort of guy that would fall for it deserve each other.

What’s a “man movie” and where’s the cutoff? Pulp fiction, the expendables, and fast and furious definitely qualify but does John Wick? Clockwork orange? Fury Road? How can I tell which movies to watch if they’re not labeled “for men” like my shampoo??

And when a girl takes you to something like barbie, you just need to mutter “fuck” whenever it gets quiet. Right?

who does what when a girl takes another girl to a girl movie?

who does what when a girl takes 2 other men to a girl movie?

who does what when a nonbinary takes a man and a woman (for now) to a transsexual movie?

who does what when a man takes his parrot to see life of brian?

You don’t have to pay attention because you can look at the screen for 2 seconds at any point in the movie and know exactly what’s happened and what’s going to happen

All the fast and furious movies are unique and different. Well they drive different cars at any rate.

Or…you could actually try taking interest in what your partner likes. My girlfriend and I have shared many things with each other that the other hadn’t engaged in before. And wow turns out we both like a lot of those things. Sure not everything is a hit, but at least try.
