It’s the year, cause DPRK use Juche calendar.
Any info on the why?
Why do the rest of us measure our current year based on the birth of a religious figure who may or may not have existed, who has little to no connection to our culture or society? It’s one of the curious things about how we keep time in the rest of the world.
Not sure at the moment. It’s a relatively new calendar, only established 1997 as far as I can tell. Maybe as a tribute to Kim Il Sung and his contributions to the people.
What is like the start date though? Is it the year of the formation of their communist party?
Year 1 is Kim Il Sung’s birth year interestingly enough, 1912.
ah i see, thanks for the explanation probably could have just looked it up but im always a little skeptical about doing that with literally anything about the DPRK lol
“Juche 112 is the average number of hungry dogs used to devour one of the Kims’ enemies in a single sitting and still be able to bring them back to life in a month, unscathed.”
Ya know thinking about it, why dont they Juche like lenin back to life or something, maybe they really are revisionists 😔
