Mobile Games - eviltoast

Do you play any games on your smartphone? I’m looking for single player ones to kill some time when waiting for the bus. Ideally they should work without an internet connection, so I can disable network access for that app and play without ads.

I’m currently playing Words of Wonder, but it gets repetitive after a while.

The best mobile games are the games that aren’t actually mobile games but now you can play them on your phone. Old pokemon games on emulator, minecraft, etc

If you enjoy deckbuilders, Dawncaster is amazingly well polished and designed for mobile controls instead of terrible ported-from-pc controls.

Paid app, but no ads, fully offline, and still receiving gameplay updates

Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga has an excellent port of the game thats exactly 1 to 1, and its only around 6 dollars. Fully singleplayer and offline, and its a nice nostalgia trip, can even do co-op.

Nobody’s mentioned RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic yet, that’s a good one, it’s RCT2 with the RCT1 scenarios included and with a more touch-friendly interface

(OpenRCT2 exists on Android for free, but you’re probably gonna have a bad time trying to play that with touch lol)

I should add a few others too probably since I do have a few other favorites

Enviro-Bear 2010 - Very funny game about a bear driving a car to collect food, was originally on PC but goes well with touch

Bacon - The Game - Decent time waster for a few minutes at a time, gets repetitive though if you play it any more than that lol

Good Pizza Great Pizza - Fun pizza shop game with an absolutely adorable art style and some silly writing

Sonic 3 A.I.R. - Widescreen Sonic 3 & Knuckles on your phone? With mod support?! Hell yeah (you’ll have to grab this ROM for it to work, but that’s no big deal)

Vita Fighters - Haven’t played it much, but this seems like a cool mobile fighting game if you’re okay with playing one of those with touch controls

SHOT2048 - Yuji Naka might be guilty of insider trading and creating Balan Wonderworld lol, but this is still a fun take on the 2048 concept

It’s tough to find good ones. I’m sure you already know Pixel Dungeon. There’s also:

    • Caves (a challenging traditional roguelike)
    • Stick Ranger (kind of a weird one, and a lot of grinding for xp)
    • Rusted Warfare (an RTS game)
    • Dungeons of Dreadrock (decent puzzle game)

I’m not 100% sure how any of these act in airplane mode though. I think I paid for Rusted Warfare, but there was a demo.

AetherSX2 will turn your phone into a PS2. Any bluetooth game controller will pair with it.

Candy crush? Nah I’m playing through Armored Core 3.

I have a tendency to enjoy simulation games, so mindustry, openttd openrct, Motorsport manager, and any kairosoft game that isn’t free to play. These have all been fantastic.

Coffee golf and poinpy have both been great 1 minute “pooping” games you can quickly get through a round and put down again.

If you are on Android you can download OpenMW and play Morrwind on your phone, if you own it on pc. There is also a Civ V clone called Unciv.
