Writers Guild of America members voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike if a fair deal for a new film and TV contract with studios isn’t reached by May 1.

97.85% voted in favor, with 78.79% participation. If a deal isn’t reached in the next week, television will look very different in the fall.
