Buying RX 6800 XT in early 2023 for €400 was the best decision I could make. The card even OCs by almost 20%… Coil whine is exceptionally bad on it though.

There is literally nothing I can upgrade to that makes any financial sense.

I’m on a 2080 Ti and even I’m having a hard time justifying these upgrades. Upgraded my wife’s 1080 with a used 3070 instead.

In all honesty I swapped from a Titan X (2015) to a 3080(2020). That was a 5 year gap and it’s right there again but haven’t needed anything more for anything I play. Pretty sure I’ll likely just buy a used last gen card whenever it is I need another one. Which will likely be far easier to get as everyone kills themselves for the new gen while also being cheaper. It will still be a noticeable upgrade to me. Don’t understand the need to upgrade every year or every other year even. The improvements are so small between gens now.

Took a bit to get the 3080 founders that I needed to physically fit my case and never again…it’s just not worth the headache.

Because I’m a Gamer! A Gamer! The most oppressed minority on the planet!

But the author’s actual reason is:

Our hobby deserves better from the companies that made their billions on the backs of PC gaming

Which seems about as true as saying Microsoft made their billions on the backs of PC gaming.

They have been starving the market for months. All part of the plan.

Was legit surprised to see my local microcenter sold out when I checked today. Pretty sure they had multiple hundreds in stock and now there’s only 1 left today.

It’s partially AI, but in all likelihood customers aren’t buying with AI as a high priority; instead, supply is constrained because most of the same production capacity is being used on AI-focused enterprise hardware.

Not as far as I know most of the popular coins either use asic mining or proof of stake. Maybe they use them for memecoin or something idk.
