The only use I ever found for it was setting alarms and starting timers. That was reliable, and faster than opening the app, navigating to an alarm, and manually setting it.

I disabled my assistant entirely though. Setting alarms a little faster is not enough to justify it.

It’s especially useful in the kitchen when you’ve got raw egg on your hands. Or when you want to check the weather in the morning while getting dressed.

I also have mine controlling stuff like lamps and HVAC when I’m out of the house, so I can turn on the AC before I get home.

Turning AC on and off actually consumes more power then just leaving it on to do its job.

I also just wash my hands, and look out the window. But that’s me.

That depends on a number of factors, including how long it’s left off. Running for 20 minutes straight is less runtime than three minutes out of every 20 minutes in the eight hours I’m gone (72 minutes total). I haven’t actually measured it, but that’s in the ballpark.

I could stop, wash my hands, unlock my phone, set the timer, and resume what I’m doing. Or I could just say “hey Google, set a timer for 40 minutes” and not have to do any of those things.

I could look out the window, but that doesn’t help much when it’s still dark out, nor does it tell me about the weather conditions eight hours from now when I’m leaving work. It could be clear and warm now, but there could be a storm system on the way.
