Not everything has to get a reboot. Futurama is excepted. - eviltoast

But… but Futurama didn’t get a reboot, it got a new season that builds upon the existing story.

A reboot means creating a new version or adaptation of an existing show and that’s not the case.

Tbh I think Futurama is perfect for streaming. It’s a fantastic show that I could easily binge but I’m just not feeling the waiting each week for an episode. Some shows I will wait for the episode and will plan for time to watch the premiere. But Futurama, I keep forgetting about. I’m enjoying the episodes and think it’s a great season, but I’m forgetting about it shortly after. I would gladly binge 10 episodes once or twice a year though and be happy with that.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to calculate the success of a reboot? They are not aiming for awesome with these. They just need it to meet the lower end of the estimate of people that say they would watch a reboot of a familiar popular show. These are zero risk endeavors. Blame statistics and big data. Depressing but this isn’t going to stop.

In some cases the cow has died and they are trying milk the ground where there the cow stood.

It feels the same as the later season of the show. Some people would say that isn’t the hight of the show, but I still really like it

I didn’t enjoy the latest season of futurama as much, but I did like all the previous reboots it had before the most recent. It was still good enough to watch though so can’t complain.

Haven’t been a fan of it until the last two episodes that have come out, those were pretty good. When they abandon “current” culture references as the core joke and just have a self contained Futurama esque story it still works

Not familiar with Code Lyoko, but the premise of the new ReBoot reminded me strongly of Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad.

I might be a bit rusty but… It was an animated series that revolved around four kids helping an AI in a supercomputer that’s in some abandoned building. While the ‘nerd’ of the group helps from outside and the other three enter it through theses virtualization pods in a secret room. When in the virtual world the kids also get these costumes that give them combative tools/abilities. The main mission being to help fight some malicious force that is trying to take over the computer (and get out).

Your description sounds way cooler than the show I remember groaning about when it came on.

There won’t be any reboots of the greatest shows ever made, like Malcom in the middle

Ugh, they’ll probably call it Malcomer in the Middler and it’ll be the three brothers as adults living together with their annoying kids.

Well, the lead of that one had traumatic brain damage and has memory troubles, so the reboot is pretty difficult.

Gotta be real, I really enjoyed the Animaniacs reboot.

    Self-referential comedy just keeps working.

I’ve only watched the first episode of the new season but it already feels like they have a better stride than in past reboots. Even the joke about getting cancelled still landed despite it being a pretty overused topic in comedy currently.

Hmmmmm now you’ve kind of caught me.

If they are able to use a proper soundtrack I’d make an exception for this show.

Ever watched tv in the 90s? Same. Love boat, Magnum p.i., general hospital, a-team, the list goes on. Hm, it seems the entertainment industry doesn’t care about good products, just about money. Surprise. But maybe - just maybe - it’ll suffer if people don’t watch that crap anymore. But that won’t happen. It’s not the greedy necromancers, it’s the consumer that’s broken and enables the scheme. Btw: that’s the meme that completely incorporates anything in the modern capitalist world, including exploited humans.
