Which Your Favourite Linux Mobile Distro? - eviltoast

I’m currently using a Pixel 3A XL with Ubuntu Touch.

Postmarket OS: I really like it the most since it is built from the ground up to be linux. Though there is not pre-built image yet for my model.

Ubuntu Touch: It has a stable reputation and has 2561 mau over a month according to the amount of downloads from openstore. Though the gps is globally broken and the VOLTE does not work yet.

Sailfish: The UI is the most visually appealing and I like the idea of buying the operating system license to support the development. Though I wish the UI was open source and it was available for more than just Sony Xperia Phones.

Mobian: I haven’t tried it yet though I heard someone got it running on the pixel 3 recently.

Sadly, I don’t have a favorite yet. The only device lying around that is supported by any of them is my Moto G4 Play. PostMarket OS has support for it, but last a checked a few months ago, battery charging was still wonky. The wiki actually recommended taking the battery out and charging it externally lol.

For a secondary device (or one that I’d just use as a mobile server), I’d be able to go without GPS and VoLTE (though GPS would be nice for some things like running an NTP server with GPS as its time source). Haven’t looked into Sailfish or Mobian, but it sounds like they have less device support than PostMarket and Ubuntu :(

We’re far from being mainstream as Linux phones still have regular issues with cellular compatibility and gps functionality.

That is definitely early day jank. I suppose coding the cooling system is a bit complicated right now. Anyone could’ve missed that ha.
