    That beard always confuses me cause you take some time to actually shave, but not enough required to do the whole face. You could just go full lazy and not bother to do the cheeks. There must be a functional reason they do this.

      If you have a beard and don’t trim anything, it looks bad anyway. You should be trimming the neck or other stray hairs to make it look clean.

      Some people’s beards don’t grow in well everywhere, so it looks better than a scraggly mess at the cheeks.

      It’s also just a style, so it doesn’t have to make sense.

      It’s significantly easier to do with a straight razor. The chin and moustache area would take way more time and effort to do properly, and are way easier to mess up and cut yourself on. So it’s lazy, just ancient lazy.

      It looks good on some faces so it became popular enough for some people to have it even if it doesn’t look good on their face. That explains every single weird looking beard style ever.
