Amazon.comās Whole Foods Market doesnāt want to be forced to let workers wear āBlack Lives Matterā masks and is pointing to the recent US Supreme Court ruling permitting a business owner to refuse services to same-sex couples to get federal regulators to back off.
National Labor Relations Board prosecutors have accused the grocer of stifling worker rights by banning staff from wearing BLM masks or pins on the job. The company countered in a filing that its own rights are being violated if itās forced to allow BLM slogans to be worn with Whole Foods uniforms.
Amazon is the most prominent company to use the high courtās June ruling that a Christian web designer was free to refuse to design sites for gay weddings, saying the case āprovides a clear roadmapā to throw out the NLRBās complaint.
The dispute is one of several in which labor board officials are considering what counts as legally-protected, work-related communication and activism on the job.
Yup, more ad hominem. You know that reflects on you right?
I have plenty of things that I like. I also know that thereās a time and place for it. While Iām working isnāt either. Itās just called common decency.

I donāt believe that adhering to a dress policy is societal oppression. Period. But that seems to be way over your head. If you believe that you NEED the ability to wear that stuffā¦ get a job that allows it. Itās as simple as that. Itās the ultimate freedom.

Then donāt piss off the only employer in your area? Thatās not Whole Foods [or anyone elses really] problem.
No. The policy is NO branding other than whole foods. This isnāt targeted at anyone in particular. If you believe that whole foods is treating you poorly then you leave the job. Thatās it.
Youāre so up your own that you didnāt even stop to realize that I might be part of those groups myself the funny part is my group was treated worse for literally hundreds of years longer but you do you. Youāre making assumptions without realizing that this has nothing to do with any of what your talking about. Itās literally just a bog standard basic dress code, not an anti-BLM plot.

Itās literally not. If you insert any other argument then youāre wrong.

You can literally read the full decision from the judge if you like. If you can find evidence that Whole Foods was acting against the employees unfairly, then Iām sure the plaintiffs lawyers would like to hire you on as a partner in their firm.

Not even close. Iām part of a marginalized group, but donāt make it my whole identity. I came from immigrant parents, am first generation American, worked hard to get where I am and am raising up those around me as well. You know what doesnāt help? Wearing a fucking pin or logo.

Letās put this in perspective. What has Whole Foods done to warrant being protested against in regards to BLM? Is Whole Foods racist for applying a policy fairly across the board?
Why would you protest Whole Foods if theyāve done nothing wrong? Why would you stress your contract with a company youāre working for that has a known dress code in order to āprotestā something that the company has no part in?
What does the āprotestā resolve at a Whole Foods? Does it make other people who are just trying to live uncomfortable to be confronted with something that is ultimately politically charged when they just want to buy some fucking frozen pizzaās and milk for their family?
Yes
No
If the Westboro Baptist Church or Scientologists set fire to all the neighboring black homes in their areaā¦ and you went to Whole Foods to protest that actā¦ Do you think that would be effective? Do you think it would be meaningful? Wouldnāt you rather see them protest where it matters? Like I dunnoā¦ At the organization that actually created the problem or is actively participating in the problem?
Since a job is effectively selling your time to work for a company in return for compensation itās fair to the company to violate their policies while theyāre paying you?
You talk about morals beforeā¦ but cheating a company out of the contract that you signed seems pretty scummy. Like Iāve said beforeā¦ find another job if the morals of the company doesnāt align with your own.
