dude… WTF is with the (lol)s in your post? None of what you said is funny, or even reads remotely like it’s even trying to be a joke.

I was a skeptical little kid, and I have been an atheist since I first learned of the term around 1st grade. I was also very interested in archeology and mythology, so exposure to all those other religions didn’t help the Christianity case. As a child, I assumed that the whole god/jesus thing was just like Santa and the Easter Bunny. That it was a made up story to instill morals in kids, and that eventually when I was older the adults would admit it to me. Of course, they never did. But I had a lot of friends at church and generally enjoyed my time there, so I didn’t openly talk about being an atheist until college.
I actually do kind of miss the community aspect of a church. I have always assumed that is the biggest draw that keeps people interested. Both for the support network, and sense of belonging.
I enjoyed the hell out of that game. My only complaint was that the loot lacked variety, and it was a bit more on rails than what I think of as a proper open world RPG.
I can’t think of any that I wasn’t fully aware of the criticism.
But I did play No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, and Fallout 76 for hundreds of hours each right at launch and enjoyed every moment without significant issues, despite being fully aware of all the hate being thrown at them at the time.
I would definitely switch away from a browser if they forced a chat bot on me.
In theory, if it worked correctly, it should be hygenic and better for the environment. But as other commenters have mentioned, in reality they get jammed alot and so the same wet section gets used over and over. Or the owners don’t actually wash the roll and it just gets respooled and put back when dry.
Yes. It’s a reusable towel system for drying hands in a public bathroom. It’s basically a really long roll of cloth that is supposed to get pulled down as its used and goes down into another rolld and washed and put back. I haven’t seen one in a really long time.
Same. I have well organized bookmarks. 10 Pinned tabs for the essentials, and whatever tabs are necessary for what I’m doing.
When I see someone’s computer with multiple browser windows open with 100s of tabs each, it just seems so overwhelming. You can’t even read the title of the tab when there’s that many open.
Up until the mid 20th century, a lot of Americans didn’t consider Catholic’s to be “white.”
It was a really big deal when Irish Catholic John F Kennedy was elected president.
Must be that reefer madness I heard about.
He got off safely. What a relief.
As a genAI hater, I appreciate this. I already block the dedicated communities as I see them in /all. This is helpful to filter out more of the outliers if posters cooperate and actually use the tag. (I think alot of genAI zealots get off on trying to see if people will notice their posts are AI.)
I just tried it. Seems to be fine for me. Just brought me to a login screen.
Yeah, it feels like its all supposed to be there. But without getting any of my actual friends to make an account, its hard to test any of it out. Though the bigger issue right now is that it seems my instance (friendica.world) is down or dead. The list of other instances is also struggling to load for me.
My complaint about Friendica is that it just doesn’t actually seem to do the part of Facebook that I actually want. At least not very well. I don’t want to see news, current events, memes and crap in that feed. I want to see posts and pictures from IRL friends, life updates, event organization, interest groups, etc. With privacy settings so only actual friends you want see the posts.
In its current state Friendica seems to just be a skin over mastodon, with some alpha stage friend features.
For me the scrolls pile up because I forget about them, on top of the worry I need to save them.
You can see right where the energy crisis hit in 73. Then a bit of rebound under Carter, then a drop and flat line when Reaganomics kicked in.
