For all of Subaru’s faults, man has a determination that I don’t think Kazuma would have. One particularly gruesome death would likely be all it took for him to fuck off to a far away place and turn this show into a slice of life (at least until the now unchecked witch cult ran rampart and caught up to him). Subaru might not be the cleverest, but despite some truly sanity-shattering things happening to him he just keeps going.
The eye opening moment is when one of these threads touches on a subject you know a lot about and the top upvoted comment is spouting complete bullshit. See it once and you start to doubt the credibility of every other highly upvoted comment that looks legit but could be just as wrong, you simply don’t know enough to immediately disprove it.
Yeah, I’ve wondered that too. He doesn’t even really need a weapon either, just spill his secret and he gets an instant heart attack anyways. Unless I forgot some detail from Season 1 (I very well could, it has been a long while) there is no penalty for suicide over getting killed and with how gruesome most of his deaths are he really could use an easy way out.
Extremely rare SFW Oglaf!
Seasonal death counter: 3 (+0, This really is a good time to add to this counter, Subaru. Things are already looking pretty grim as they are, you don’t want that save point moving now!)
So the archbishop wasn’t actually a dragon (even though they have the blood of one), they were a damned shapeshifter! Anyone who had to deal with Orin and her gang of shape-changing murderers in BG3 knows how annoying those things can get.
Capella really asking the “Would you still love me if I was a worm?” question except literally. Regulus is pretty interesting, he’s relatively “sane” compared to the rest of the bunch, he’s just an absolutely awful egoistical asshole who was given demigod level of power so no one can say “no” to him. It really makes his just so very hateable even when compared to the rest of his already hard to like comrades.

Seasonal death counter: 3 (+0, Subaru is on a roll!)
Poor Garfiel just can’t stop losing! Subaru had some pretty gruesome deaths but Garfiel is the one who is constantly getting the despair this season. It wasn’t enough that all the archbishops decided to show up, one of them happens to be a fucking dragon! One with ultra-speed regeneration, no less. Even the basic faceless cultists are no joke!
The teacher explained it in this panel:
Being able to call lightning requires the power to manipulate clouds to make lightning, which happens to also let you manipulate the weather somewhat. She’s been slowly drawing in the clouds and the typhoon so it arrived earlier than expected and thus goes away before the festival.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The manga itself is great but reading it live and discussing it on the old site elevated the experience even more. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending, everything else was just so good it’s hard for me to give it anything but a 10.
Seasonal death counter: 3 (+0, no deaths this episode - good job Subaru!)
Four witch cultists at once! And all the Royal Selection candidates just happened to be invited at the same time, huh? No conspiracy present here, no sir! Poor Garf is dealing with some serious trauma, man was still working through his defeat by Elsa and now he finally found his mother only for her to completely forget him! At least he has an emotional support chibi catgirl for moral support.
Do it! It’s what I did while the anime was still airing after being disappointed with the human side of it and hearing from LN readers how much better it was in the source (it really is). The Light Novels are all released and translated too, so you can go through the entire thing without having to wait! (the pain of waiting for the next Overlord and Slime volume is almost enough to make me consider learning Japanese…)
We got an OP and an ED this episode and they are AWESOME! Best enjoy them while we can, if S2 was anything to go by we won’t be seeing them very often. Death counter is up to 3 now. I forgot how delightfully insane the archbishops of sin are. Poor Subaru not only barely has any time to plan with how close to Wrath showing up his “checkpoint” is, he has to deal with Greed as well! It sure looks like we’re gonna be going through plenty of resets!
It’s back! I finally managed to find enough time to watch the entire thing in one go, I didn’t expect them to drop an entire MOVIE LENGTH first episode on us like that! So much going on, so many plot threads. Poor Subaru almost managed to make it through the entire 1,5h without dying.
Refresh rate is king. I would much rather use a 1080p 120+Hz monitor over 4k 60Hz. 1440p 144Hz is the sweet spot though, big visual improvement over 1080p without the need to bankrupt yourself on a GPU powerful enough to drive a 4k 120Hz display or relying on upscaling making everything a blurry mess.
Oh HELL YES! With how successful the 1st season was, it was almost guaranteed we would get a sequel but it’s still nice to have an official confirmation now!
I think the idea was to take back the narrative about Ruri’s horns and spin it around against them. By publicly declaring her desire to remove her horns, mentioning the safety concern and making it a whole public event (even including the perpetrators of the rumors in it) they turn it around on them, showing she does care, is self-conscious and is actively trying to prevent any harm. It makes the topic of discussing her horns and dragon heritage in any negative light an insensitive subject, making them the bad guys if they ever decide to bring it back up again. At least that’s my understanding of it.
Bold words from someone who bullies others for their appearance.
I still think this whole plan was insane, but it worked out in the end so I guess it’s OK?
I was excited but then saw it’s a movie and the excitement instantly evaporated. I wish I could be happy about seeing a series I like getting a movie but with the wait times before I get to watch it, it’s a miracle if I even remember about it by the time it’s available.
A Taira and Azuma chapter, I was hoping it would be one! There is hope for Azuma yet, poor Taira is slowly working through his issues. I won’t be surprised if as this goes on and they both work out their respective problems, they kinda just become a couple without an official confession or anything.
Seasonal death counter: 3 (+0, based on how this season started I thought we would have a lot more of those, I feel kinda silly for making this counter now…)
Dragon blood is some serious stuff, not only did it regrow Subaru’s leg, it even grew back the bandages and his shoe somehow! Impressive! Regulus really is speedrunning the “most hated character” title, which is pretty impressive as he has some serious competition with Capella and Gluttony. Man is just truly vile.
What a cliffhanger post-ending! Al sounds just as surprised to see someone respond as Emilia did, wonder if he found one of those communicators somewhere and tried using it.
