I’m going to Mackinac Island in August. This is just reaffirming our decision to rent bikes while we’re there

Good. They have one rule, and honestly any kind of e-bike is breaking that rule. An e-bike is for people who are so addicted to cars they can’t imagine not having motorized transport.

except the rule is that a specific type of e-bike is allowed.

They didn’t do anything when Pence (i think it was) visited and broke a bunch of rules, so everyone else can visit and ignore the rules, right?

The rule in spirit is no motorized transport. I’m perfectly aware of the actual rule.

I don’t think anyone should be above the rules based on status, no. Only accessibility should allow for exceptions and honestly even as a disabled person I’m fine with being cut out from things like this, even though I’m sure there’s plenty of other people who feel differently.

I kinda like ebikes in that I hope it may help encourage the creation of more biking infrastructure.

But the notion that the worst part of biking is getting exercise seems a little backward. I’ll never understand it. Especially on a tiny island like Mackinac.
