The CPB doesn’t even own those entities, it only distributes money to them, money that only makes up a portion of their revenue. And the CPB sure as hell doesn’t own “local news” lol. Where’s Sinclair Broadcasting on this chart? Where’s SiriusXM? This clip-art is straight-up misinformation

I’m surprised YouTube and Google News are listed as news outlets. They don’t create news content, they aggregate it. Arguments can be made about biasing which content is shown first, but not about the content itself, which is owned by the other entities on the list

Except some content is produced independently (of those outlets) by “influencers”, hence it makes sense to list them. Furthermore, I bet that for a huge proportion of the later generations these influencers are the main avenue to consuming News… specially if we added tiktoks, X, and all the crap.

I think it depends on the intent in the groupings. Is it money flow? Then it makes sense. Is it editorial influence? Then it seems to make less sense.

Verizon no longer owns either company listed under it. Sold huffpo in 2020 and yahoo in 2021. Idk about the rest of the list but it’s a little out of date.

Having had them as an ISP monopoly, Comcast shouldn’t be allowed to own Comcast until they show they can do that without fucking it up.

They actually made the monopoly part I experienced illegal. I was in a city with multiple providers but Comcast was the “exclusive” provider for my apartment building because they bribed our landlord so they could charge residents more for shittier service. Everyone involved in that deal should be in Gitmo getting kicked in the dick every time they ask for a lawyer.
