I know everyone has particular things they think are the worst part of war, but stating at a giant flying robot bomb and knowing you have no way to escape or even effectively surrender sounds like hell. Like, how do you tell the operator you want to be taken captive?
My understanding is that all they have to do is lay down arms and raise their hands. The drone will lead them to a location to be taken into custody.
From this brief snippet, this dude looked pretty isolated and significantly lacking in kit (which is saying something) - he didn’t even have his rifle. Kinda seems like a slam dunk “maybe I should try to surrender” moment.
Not an fpv quad. They are built for speed, not flight time, and they’re also carrying an explosive so they really can’t fly that long. The fixed camera also makes it virtually impossible to lead a Russian to a surrender point while also keeping eyes on him. Every surrender I’ve seen has been done by a surveillance drone which are larger, have more endurance, and a more sophisticated camera.
Hadn’t thought of that - thanks
And soon enough it won’t be an operator controlling the drone
What a lovely dystopian suppository.
If only they weren’t there to begin with…
But that’s not the philosophical, or maybe quintessential, question you’re asking. It’s merely a solution.
The foot soldiers generally don’t want to be there. Russia has to use blocking troops to keep them on the front line. You retreat, you get shot by your own guys.
Fuck I’m just glad I’ll be to old to get drafted for the big one. War is fucking crazy now.
Wow, nailed him right in the back of the head.
