      Yeah good luck with that. They get royalties for HDMI use, they make the TVs. Asking them to support DP is literally asking them to stop collecting royalties from all the device makers.

          I tried to buy a TV recently. The cheapest TV in my entire neighbourhood was a 200$ 4k smart TV with Google Assistant integration, no frame around the screen so it can be handled safely, and no buttons, only a remote.

          What happened to buying a 720p normal TV with basic longevity features like a frame and buttons? Companies want to sell you all of the expensive bells and whistles and none of the important stuff.

              “Smart” is code for “Spies on you and sends your data to Google”. I had to check with the store guy to make sure it would run without internet before I bought it.

    Are there any DisplayPort to HDMI adapters that support hdmi 2.1 and freesync / vrr? I found one on Amazon that is reported to do the former but I didn’t find one that does both.
