    As someone in my 30s, I expect to be part of the beginning of a series of steward generations who will desperately try to manage this Great Decline. My only hope is that it can be slowed down enough that I don’t die in some thunderdome contest for scraps.

    Interesting read. What differs majorly now from past collapses of civilization is the interconnection made possible with technology and the internet. Things will become less convenient, but there will probably always be someone to fill whatever void is created, baring a world wide disaster. But even then, with the technology available now, I struggle to envision a complete societal collapse. Will things change? Absolutely as it should. Is change uncomfortable ? Usually. Are we going to evolve into a Mad Max scenario? Time will tell. But I would hazard a guess of probably not.
