Gravity is (yet another) Lemmy client for iOS. I started the development of this app a few weeks ago and thoughts why not releasing it, so there it is. I’m doing this for fun and on my free time.
What’s supported in this version:
- Login (but it’s not required, you lurker)
- Browsing, searching communities
- Voting on posts and comments
- Commenting
- Multiple feed layout
- Infinite scroll
What’s next:
- Creating posts
- Deleting and editing comments
- Filters and blocks
- Automated Nightlies with change log (git log)
Open sourcing should be comming in the next few weeks. Also, custom app icon will be a thing. The app is currently in english but I am working on translations. I will be releasing French and Spanish and German, when the main features will be working properly.
Please feel free to send any feedback by email or here in this thread. Thanks for testing!
With all this great Lemmy app competition coming out, the desktop is painfully lacking behind
Have you tried Alexandrite?
not OP, but i don’t use it mainly because it wastes a lot of space. it’s not bad… but i prefer my feed to be a little more content dense
I do too, but the multi-pane makes up for it. Devs have said a “compact” mode is in the works.
It is too slow to me, I don’t think it is a hardware issue to be honest.
Wdym?
It hangs/freeze several times, unlike stock UI or old.lemmy.world.
What are you viewing it on?
I’ve never had any issues.
Subscribed feed on lemmy.world from a MacBook Pro 2014 running Safari.
mlmym is a great old.reddit clone
Or just old.lemmy.world for this instance.
A new Desktop interface is being hosted on lemmy.world soon, named Photon
They’re taking a page out if Firefox’s play book I see
It works really nicely! We’ve already been hosting it at https://nu.lemdro.id. My personal fav.
Love all the competition.
Lemmy is gonna leave past reddit third apps in the dust in terms of features and quality, now that there is no fear of risk.
Call it ‘Yet Another Lemmy Loader’ or Y’ALL for short.
I absolutely love this!
Holy shit i love the look already. I cant seem to login to lemm.ee tho!
Hey, thanks for the feedback. Indeed I had an issue with login on a different server than the one selected. I pushed the fix now and will send a new testflight by sunday with comment editing and deletion features :)
Awesome! Looking forward to it.
I would love to test it but I am on iOS 15.7.7 so no Gravity for me… Great icon tho!
Is this SwiftUI or UIKit?
SwiftUI, but there’s a few UI things that I’m having a hard time to achieve with it so I might add some UIKit stuff here and there.
Can’t log into Lemmy.world
Yea, I saw the issue and fixed it. That’ll be for the next Testflight. Sorry about that.
Still not fixed after update.
Sorry about that. Can you tell me more? The default instance is Lemmy.world ? Do you have any error displayed on the login screen ?
The Login button isn’t clickable. I enter the account info and Lemmy.world as instance. Nothing.
That’s wired. Are you on iPhone or iPad ? What OS version ?
Didn’t work on either my iPhone 14 Pro or iPad Pro. Both with most recent OS installed.
I got this problem too but managed to login, I was just stubborn and kept hitting the button lol. It may have to me something happening behind the scenes.
Any chance you will open source it? Also who made the icon it’s amazing
Hey, sorry I’ve been off the grid for the last few month! I made the icon myself. Btw, I just released a new version, with a refined version of the app icon + alternate app icon support :)
Open sourcing is on it’s way. TBH, my commits are quite messy and very unprofessional but I could open source it right now. I would just need to arrange/reorganize the files and directories, but that’s manageable.
Ah sweet! Will the old icon remain as an alternative? Its my favorite
I will add it to the next build.
Just out of curiosity, you don’t like the new one? I feel like the head is a little too big but any tips for improvements?
I like the new one but the old one is just so good something about it. The flatness plus bit of gradient maybe
One thing I like about this: the smooth animation when threads collapse. Not many Lemmy apps I’ve tried nailed this.
