I don’t think it’s out of character for Spock to deliver the driest jokes.
I could see him reading it from a list of jokes in the ship’s database and trying to see if it elicits a laugh like it’s supposed to.
When it doesn’t, he raises an eyebrow and says “Fascinating.”
what if you make a 45° tilted wheel? half meet?
