Nicron N72UV and B70 - eviltoast

New Nicron N72-UV and B70 next to my beat up Nitecore MT21C. I didn’t notice the charge port on the b70, so am waiting on a standard N72 to arrive to take over for the MT21C. Don’t want to see how it takes being dropped in oil with an exposed port like that on the B70.

Well, that’s my second MT21C. I have gotten very attached to the 90 degree swivel, as combined with the magnetic tail cap, it has a high chance to be able to point where needed. However, they don’t take being dropped into hydraulic oil very well, and the light is failing. I am now trying out these Nicrons.

The B70 is nice, but with the exposed charge port I’m not going to risk carrying it at work. That’s a shame too, as I much prefer the switch on the B70 over the one on the N72 and N72-UV. I’ve been accidentally triggering the light in my pocket, dazzling coworkers that are standing next to me. I need to finally take the dive into kydex holsters, as I’ve not seen anything for a hard holster that can fit the N72 body.

The N72 takes three AAA or an 18650 with a sleeve. The barrel on the B70 is slimmer, and can not use the AAA. The N72-UV uses 395nm. I’m not fond of the ui on the N72, being Off-High-Low-Off, with hold for strobe or UV, depending on model. I prefer starting on low or previous mode. The B70 switch does go back to previous level on activate, but again, that exposed port is simply too big a liability for a light that will, not could, end up submerged in hydraulic oil periodically.

That’s a real shame about the exposed port. Nice-looking lights though.

I’m definitely not a fan of starting on high, but dual-fuel is always awesome.
