The thing is, your quality of life can be as bad as it wants, but based on my observations of these creatures, they appear to be happier regardless, simply because they believe these things are good. Like eggs may have tripled in price, but they actually seem happier about that than when the prices were lower, simply due to the change in the person in charge. So it appears like you would also be liberated from your quality of life having any tangible effect on your happiness.
