I think it’s that if a kid tells their teacher they’re gay or trans, the teacher has to tell their parents.

If a kid has parents that will mistreat them for being gay, they will now be afraid to tell the teacher because they know it won’t be confidential.

It’s about limiting the number of adults a kid feels they can trust.

I believe, statistically, it makes kids less likely to report abuse

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure the people in this post specifically are pedos. Idk what the fuck is going on in Alberta, and I don’t know if this is the same law, only that I keep seeing these posts popping up from pedos celebrating a proposed(?) law that’d make it easier for them to groom children and harder to prosecute them. In this case, opt-in sex ed means that kids are less educated and less likely to understand when they’ve been sexually abused, and it’s harder for kids to trust teachers if the teachers are required to turn around and tell Mom and Dad.

People who prey on vulnerable kids really like those kids to be isolated from any kins of help. And the current conservative wave is built entirely on rhetoric that emboldens, and policies that empower, abusers and predators.
